How Lyko Improved Customer Experience with 360-Degree Photography

In response to the shift toward e-commerce, Lyko implemented 360-degree product photography to bridge the gap between online and in-store shopping. "We have seen that customers use the function a lot, and we take that as confirmation that it is a valuable feature," says Magnus Kvick, Responsible for Photography at Lyko. "It does not replace the physical experience of holding a product in a store, but it certainly makes it easier for customers to make an informed purchase decision."

Bringing 360-Degree Photography In-House

Lyko has been working with Orbitvu for nearly Five years, and the transition to 360-degree product photography was a learning process. "I had no prior training or knowledge about the program when I was asked to create 360-degree images for Lyko," Magnus explains. "However, if you have some experience with Photoshop and photography, the program is quite intuitive. Within a few days, I was able to start publishing images."

One of the biggest advantages of the solution has been the automatic background removal, which has significantly sped up the photography workflow. "Product photography has definitely become much faster thanks to the automatic background removal and the simplicity of the program," Magnus adds. The streamlined process has allowed Lyko to produce more images with less manual work, improving efficiency across the board.

Why 360-Degree Photography Matters

For Lyko, the decision to implement 360-degree views was driven by a desire to give customers the best possible information before purchase. "They can rotate, zoom in, and view details like ingredient lists and product instructions," says Magnus. This added level of interaction helps shoppers feel more confident in their choices, reducing uncertainty in online shopping.

Currently, Lyko has around 5,000 products with 360-degree views, a number that continues to grow daily. "We are convinced that this will add value for most of our products," Magnus says.
